{"id":707,"date":"2018-09-30T17:15:18","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T00:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.turningplanet.org\/blog\/?p=707"},"modified":"2018-09-30T19:33:01","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T02:33:01","slug":"two-pieces-for-hard-times-nice-men-and-some-anger-unloosed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.turningplanet.org\/blog\/two-pieces-for-hard-times-nice-men-and-some-anger-unloosed\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Pieces for #MeToo: &#8220;Nice Men&#8221; and some anger, unloosed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve published two pieces in the past few days:\u00a0a poem on the website Poets Reading the News, and a raw &#8216;assay&#8217; into my own history of sexual assault, on my Medium page.\u00a0I was already tired of holding on so tightly to my story, and have <a href=\"https:\/\/uncertainty.club\/in-praise-of-folly\/\">written about it elsewhere<\/a>, in an oblique, intellectualizing sort of way. But the wave of honest stories and of bottled-up rage, flowing in the wake of the Ford\/Kavanaugh hearings, finally pulled this version forward. It may not seem very &#8220;Still Life,&#8221; but it&#8217;s the truth I needed to speak. It may be hard to read.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a raw and challenging time right now.
